The roots of the Santarcangiolese cultural passion are as uncertain as those of its legends, but the fact is that many talented, original and even crazy personalities were born here.
A timeline that starts with Guido Cagnacci’s scandalous nudes (“Immondo”), and reaches Fabio De Luigi and Daniele Luttazzis’ comedy and satire, passes through the “Circle of Judgment” (“Circolo del Giudizio”) that gave impetus to the emergence of artists of the caliber of Tonino Guerra and Raffaello Baldini.
But this town is not only the source of art and poetry, from 1971 with International Festival of Street Theatre, it has attracted artists from the cosmopolitan European scene of contemporary theatre and from the 90’s has been home to the Mutoid Waste Company.
