The town that gave birth to the poet and screenwriter Tonino Guerra bears testimony to the life and artistic genius of this incredible artist. Everywhere you look, from Piazza Ganganelli, where he lived, went to school and played as a child, you’ll witness his poetic breath. The narrow streets of the old town and the walls of the houses tell a story of Santarcangelo and its people through his tender words and fascinating creations.

The “Fontana della Pigna” (“Pine Cone Fountain”) in the main square is the first encounter you’ll have with his concrete poems, i.e. installations inspired by his ideas, thoughts and drawings.

- Ma altre Fontane vi attendono nel centro cittadino per raccogliere il suo invito: “Fermatevi ad ascoltare quello che l’acqua ha da dirvi”.

Take a look around the museum dedicated to his films, paintings and books and don’t forget the towns restaurants and hotels to whom he donated his artistic feeling and expression: “ a restaurant that must be the banner of our dishes and our finest wines, must give great satisfaction to the eye, for that is what we eat with first” (un locale, che deve essere una bandiera per le nostre pietanze e i nostri vini più pregiati e genuini, deve dare grande soddisfazione allo sguardo, perché si mangia anche con gli occhi”). You’ll also hear and see his “Suspended Projects” (“Progetti Sospesi”) that are his legacy: “ suggestions that remain constructed in the mind, in desire. So it creates a dream and its imprint will endure forever. In a sense something is made, for instance its image” (“suggerimenti che restano costruiti nella mente, nel desiderio. Così si crea un sogno e la sua impronta resisterà sempre nella mente. In un certo senso qualcosa è realizzato, per esempio la sua immagine”).
